Glad

Picture Color | Brown
On my way home I kept seeing a rainbow but couldn't find a good place to stop.  I decided that I could stop at our church and hopefully take a picture that included the stone wall to fit the brown part of the prompt.  Well, by that time the rainbow was so faint that it was hard to see, and then it disappeared altogether, but I still like this picture and the view, rainbow or not, makes me glad that I live in a rural area.

I love this statue at one of our local libraries.  I was playing with old film camera filters again today, and I liked how this sepia filter turned out.

Accomplishment

Picture Color | Brown
It was an accomplishment that we were able to have a carry-in meal after church today.  We haven't had any meals for probably close to 18 months.  Due to rising Covid cases, we did have to hold it outdoors in our pavilion, which just happens to be a nice shade of brown. "My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires." ~James 1:19-20

Building

Picture Style | Double Exposure'
I had to think about this prompt a lot.  I finally decided that I would do something with one of my Lego buildings.  What I settled on was combining a stuffed dinosaur with the Flintstone house.  I thought that we had a really big dinosaur, but in the end all I found was a Beanie baby dinosaur, and since its scale was in keeping with the Lego scale, I just ended up photographing it with the house.  One of the major things that I feel is missing with this Lego set is Dino.  It has Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty, the car, a bowling set, and even a giant set of brontosaurus ribs, but it doesn't have Dino.  I know this dinosaur isn't quite the same, but I thought it was close enough.

Today I played around with some of the old filters I had bought in the late 80s or early 90s for my film camera.  These are the best pictures with this particular filter.

8 o'clock

Picture Style | Double Exposure | Picture Time
Well, I have been unable to figure out double exposure with digital cameras because none of the cameras we have do it in camera, and I also don't have software that will do it.  Instead, here is a picture of 8 o'clock p. m. in my world.  It's starting to get dark earlier, and my twinkle lights can be seen.  This is a double layer image with the lights in the foreground and a couple of boats in the background.

Water

Picture Style | Double Exposure
This picture is a few days late.  As I was driving home from the store on Wednesday, I realized that I could just stop by a local lake (which I could have done on Sunday as well, but it didn't occur to me then).  I had only intended to take a picture of the lake, but I decided to take a path that I don't usually take so that I could get a different view of the lake.  I was rewarded by also seeing this beautiful black and blue Red-spotted Purple butterfly.  I started formulating an idea for combining those two images. My husband graciously combined the two images in his photo editing program under my direction for the look I was trying to achieve.  I'm pretty happy with my first ever attempt at digital double exposure.

I've been playing with some old filters for film cameras, but none of those images worked out so I decided to give this panning technique a try.  I'm pretty happy with the results, except my hair is a little limp due to the humidity.

This is the last bouquet from my CSA subscription.  I have really enjoyed getting bouquets filled with all kinds of different flowers every other week this summer while supporting a local business at the same time.  The flowers usually last a long time too.  I keep them around for at least ten days, if not right up to the day before I'm supposed to get another bouquet.  I've experimented with putting them in different locations from my dining room to the family room coffee table, which is where I think I like them the best.

Light-hearted

Perfectly Imperfect

I usually don't like to have my picture taken with my hair pulled back because I don't like all of the loose hairs in front.  Also, I have rosacea so my face often looks very red.  In addition, I have a scar from chickenpox right in between my eyes that I can see all the time, but it doesn't always seem to appear noticeable in photos.  Then there's the fact that when I was 12, I chipped my two front teeth, and the bonding wears down every ten years or so.

I'm the organized one in the family.  I found this dry erase board, and I use it to plan out the meals for the week.  Right now it's just my husband and me, but when my son was home, this was helpful to note who was going to be home for dinner and who was scheduled to cook or pick up dinner each night.  Here I am this morning updating the week's plan to include something I forgot was happening this weekend.

Impressive

Picture More | Patterns
Since I was at work in Warrenton today, I decided to find a pattern I liked in one of the buildings around town.  I like the pattern of the windows in the old courthouse.  The facade is symmetric, and the windows and doors all have arched tops.  The statue is of John Marshall, who lived from 1755 to 1835 and was born in southern Fauquier County.  He was the fourth Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court (serving from 1801 to 1835), and the statue identifies him as a frontiersman, soldier, and lawyer.

Bliss

Picture More | Patterns
The past couple of weeks have been difficult.  Three people we have known well have all passed away.  Gordon Funkhouser and his late wife Judy were staples in my church growing up.  At church Gordon loved to usher and share the children's story when asked.  When I arrived at church early some Sundays, he was always willing to share a joke.  Later when I returned as an adult, Kendal Elmore became pastor there. He ignited the spark that had been smoldering for many years and ultimately baptized my husband and me, leading to our present involvement in our congregation.  Even though he moved to other pastorates and a stint as a district executive, we remained in contact.  We met Dave Blanchard shortly before our oldest son crossed over to Boy Scouts and for the next ten to twelve years we saw Dave on a nearly weekly basis at Scout meetings, camp outs, and District Scouter meetings.  Dave always had interesting information to impart to the Scouts when working on merit badges or in boards of review.  He was never short on stories of interest to the adults as well.  This flower arrangement was left at church as the communion table display for today and was almost certainly placed as part of Gordon's funeral.  I love the pattern of the roses in it, and it may seem strange to use this for the prompt bliss, but I feel that I know all three gentlemen well enough to believe that they have gone on to their eternal bliss.  Rest in peace, Gordon, Kendal, and Dave.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." ~2 Timothy 4:7

My mom's bowling ball is blue so I took a picture of that at bowling this morning.  I was going to edit it in Lightroom, but then I remembered that the raw files from our new Nikon Coolpix don't work in my version of LR.  We tried getting an update for it, but that also didn't work. On the plus side, I am learning more about that camera: I discovered that it has a macro setting.
