1/365 Picture Today Post

Welcome | Picture Me

I generally welcome the new year by watching the Rose Parade.  As a former marching band member, I just love all of the bands and beautiful floats in this parade.  I think this is the 8th year that I have been involved in trying to take a picture every day.  Wednesdays usually find me bowling, but as this is a holiday our league is on a break.  I am also a math tutor, and I serve on the board of a Christian school sponsored by church.  Our head of school resigned last April, and I have had to pick up a lot of slack at the school while we conduct a search for a new head of school.  Because of those extra duties, I had very little extra time (or energy to be honest) to focus on photography and rarely posted after April last year.  While we haven't quite hired a new head of school yet, I am going to try my best to get back into the habit of taking a picture a day and posting it.  Happy New Year!

Intrepid

Picture Basic | Black & White
Today was the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival Feature Parade.  This lady was adventurous and fearless on her horse and in her costume along the parade route.  I used a black and white filter from ON1 for this image.

Amazing

Picture Life | What's New? | Where I Stand | 1 O'Clock
At 1 o'clock I was still engaging in my yearly tradition of watching the Rose Parade.  I love the marching bands, and all of the floats are amazing!

Honored

Picture Style | Street Photography
Back at the end of April I went to the Shenandoah Apple Blossom parade with my best friend.  I always take lots of pictures.  I was able to get a picture of Terry Bradshaw, who was honored with the title of Grand Marshal, actually looking at the camera. I also got one of Dean Cain, who was the Marshal of the Firefighters' Parade, but he was looking the opposite direction.

Prevail

Another parade picture since I forgot to take any pictures at church today.  This bicyclist prevailed at riding the 2-mile length of the parade route.  I think that's a worthy feat.

Picture You | What I Love
I love a parade, and today was an extra special day because I got to spend it with my best friend at the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival Parade.  This is an annual tradition for us, as former marching band color guard members, but it has been three years since we've been able to get together and "Bloom."  This is one of the best pictures I too all day.  Mia Dorsett, daughter of Tony Dorsett, is Queen Shenandoah XCV.  She was actually designated queen in 2020 but due to the pandemic did not reign.  Her older sister Jazmyn Dorsett was Queen Shenandoah LXXXV.
