Off Prompt

I'm really enjoying this Bible study that I started attending a few weeks ago.  The lesson for today even included one of my favorite verses: "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." ~Romans 8:28

Love

I'm loving the combination of devotional materials that I am currently using.  I'm re-reading Fresh From the Word which was originally published for the 2008 300th anniversary of the Brethren.  To read the Bible passages I am using the newly published Anabaptist Community Bible, which includes commentary from Anabaptist scholars and historical notes.  Lastly I've been reading a compilation of Wendy McFadden's publisher's messages from Messenger magazine.

Quiet

All's quiet here on a snowy Epiphany day.  In Virginia, any snow generally means a snow day.  The roads were too bad for me to drive to work today, but my boss who doesn't generally close for snow, made the unprecedented decision (at least in the 7 years I have worked there) to close today.

Today I thought of Robert Frost's poem:

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Quiet

My favorite place to find quiet is while I'm reading just before bedtime.  I'm currently reading A Clearing in the Distance by Witold Rybczynski about Frederick Law Olmsted and China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan.

Laugh

Picture Life | Gratitude
More birthday fun ensued today.  My best friend and I had lunch and then went to the Green Valley Book Fair in Harrisonburg.  When we get together, there is always much laughter.  Because it was raining earlier in the day, we almost forgot to take our picture, but we squeezed it in right before leaving.

A few pictures from lunch at Olive Garden too.

And some pictures after we left the book fair.

Keep

Picture Basic | Light & Shadow
I used my glasses to make a heart-shaped shadow on the book I'm currently reading: The Life of Elizabeth I by Alison Weir.  I chose to place it in the chapter titled "Bonny Sweet Robin" which details her relationship with Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester.

Quiet

Picture Basic | Rule of Thirds
When I was at the library, I realized it was the perfect spot for this photo.  After all, what's quieter than a library?  This is our local library to the left and the former train station, currently used for special programs, to the right.
