I finished the day with a meeting at school.  I remembered to take a quick picture before the meeting.

Adventure

Picture You | Skill | Picture My Hands
In May a member of our church suddenly passed away.  He was very involved in the life of the church, not too much older than I am, and at the beginning of the year had been reappointed to head up our outreach missions.  He had implemented a major project with assistance from some neighboring churches this spring.  Our outreach programs have been limping along without his guidance.  In August, I was asked fill the role through the end of the year so tonight I held a organizational meeting with a few others to ensure that we are all on the same page and can finish the year strong.  I've never served in this role previously so it will definitely be an adventure, but I'm sure that my organizational skills will help me.

My car was packed up this morning for my busy day ahead: a trip to the gym, work, and a meeting at church after work.

Admire

I am on the board for this little school, and conveniently (although it got canceled), we were supposed to have our monthly board meeting tonight.  I love the charming little house that currently serves as the administration building for the school.

Creativity

Picture You | What I do
Right now I am using a lot of my creative skills to help plan events for my church.  Here I am preparing for our monthly leadership team meeting. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." ~Psalm 139:13-14

I have no idea how this fits today's prompt, but as I was sitting at a meeting in our church pavilion, I kept looking at this house and thinking how cute it was.  At dusk I finally took a picture of it and decided that it would have to do for today.

Determined

Picture You | What I Love
Over the years I have volunteered with a lot of different organizations including Boy Scouts, the board of directors of our swim team, and a couple of women's clubs, and I love it.  I have also had a lot of different roles at my church.  Currently I am the Coordinator of Educational Ministries.  Mostly that means that I am in charge of making sure that everything is in place for Sunday School classes.  Today I am determined to finish my articles for the church newsletter.  "He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, 'Quiet! Be still!'  Then the wind died down and it was completely calm." ~Mark 4:39

Signal

Picture Style | Street Photography | Macro Monday
I had to be at church for a meeting this evening, and I chose to photograph this sign.  Our church started a school in 1986.  At one time it went from preschool through 8th grade, but a recession decimated the numbers, and now it is trying to grow from preschool through 3rd grade by adding a grade each year.  Many years ago I served on the board of that school with a gentleman whose granddaughter went to school there from preschool all the way through 8th grade.  He loved his Lord; he loved his granddaughter; and he loved our little school.  He was so concerned about the children that he petitioned the state department of transportation to put a full-fledged school zone signal with the flashing lights and everything in front of the church and school building.  To their credit, the department of transportation considered it but said that the number of students and the amount of traffic on our road didn't justify one of the big signals.  Instead they installed this sign.  That gentleman passed away last March.  That sign will forever be a signal to me of the care that that gentleman had for our school.  RIP William A. Long Jr.  We're working hard to carry on your legacy.
