Remarkable

Bowling balls of today are pretty remarkable.  All but the most basic beginner balls have an inner core that is designed to use physics to give the bowler a more powerful hit.  The asymmetrical cores combined with the optimal placement of the finger holes make each ball unique to its owner.  New balls are constantly being released, up to a dozen a month, each one with supposed new technological breakthroughs. This is currently my preferred ball.  Storm is one of six main bowling ball manufacturers.

Unique

Picture Life | Life-long Learning

Well, my name is one unique thing about me, but that's not the focus of this picture.  And while I received my degree in architecture, this diploma doesn't mean that my learning on that subject has stopped.  But that also isn't the focus of this picture.  After I graduated, I worked for a time in a picture framing store, and I learned all of the aspects of picture framing.  One of the perks of the job was that we could buy discounted supplies and come in early or on our days off and frame our personal projects.  After I had worked there for a bit, I framed my own diploma.  I already had a frame the right size so this is how I chose to frame it.  Shortly after this, my then boyfriend also graduated, so naturally I framed his diploma also.  I still occasionally make use of this skill when I am able.

 

 

 

Anniversary Trip - Day 3

First stop Old Cape Henry Lighthouse.  If you visit, be aware that you have to enter Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story in order to visit the lighthouse and the First Landing Monument.  Everyone over the age of 16 has to provide an ID, which they hold while you are on the base.  You also have to undergo a brief security check.  Make sure that you have all of the items that you need from your car (water, ID, membership cards, cameras, etc.) after parking in the designated parking lot and prior to entering the building for the security check.  If you are a member of Preservation Virginia, you will avoid the fee for visiting the lighthouse.

Lunch in Cape Charles in Northampton County on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.  I had the bacon-lettuce-tomato sandwich, and David had the goat cheese salad.

After lunch we headed to Kiptopeke State Park.

The drive back over the bridge.

 

Afternoon sights from the hotel.  First a catamaran out in the ocean.

Also found the prototype 600 foot tall wind turbines that are 27 miles offshore.  Dozens more 800 foot tall ones are scheduled to be installed.😒

One of the helicopters that has been flying over every day.

Heavy surf this afternoon and evening.

Moonrise on the beach after ice cream for dinner.

And we stumbled upon a concert in Neptune Park beside the hotel on our way back.

These helicopters flew over our hotel multiple times a day.  There were also fighter jets too, but I wasn't able to get a video of any of them.

Colossal

From the archives.  I couldn't come up with any ideas that I could easily implement at home.  I remembered that we had taken some pictures of bridges on our trip to Rhode Island back in September.  I thought that this colossal bridge fit the bill.  Check out the cars in front of us for scale.

I was able to find a bridge that one of my son's made for a Cub Scout bridge project, and I turned it into a support for one of my model cars.
