Handwriting

Picture You | Harmony
Today I stopped by my local library to pick up a prize that I had won.  I chose to get a picture outside the library with my prize (a reusable cup with the library's name on it).  The contest was Shakespeare trivia, that I did fill out in my own handwriting.  I do write out a lot of things by hand still: to do lists, notes, cards, bills, etc.

This is the actual quiz.  I'd love to know which one you think is the most difficult.

Resilient

Harmony | Self Portrait

The green plants in these pictures are common greenbrier (Smilax rotundifolia).  They grow everywhere in our woods and are just about the most resilient plants that I have seen.  We had a fire on our property 22 years ago just before we built our house, and the greenbrier was one of the first things that grew back.  My husband cuts it back and rips it out by the roots, but it still comes back.

Book

Picture You | Harmony
Yesterday I showed you three books that are i\on my to-be read list.  Today I show you three books that I am in the process of reading.  This is a series of books by Marisa de los Santos.  A couple of years ago I joined an online book club hoping to push myself to finish more books.  This spring the book club is reading i'll be your blue sky, which is actually the third book in the series, but it worked as a standalone.  I finished it very quickly and wanted to find out where the story started so now I am reading the first book, Love Walked In.  I have almost finished it, and I have the middle book, Belong to Me, on audiobook at the ready.

Encouragement

Picture You | Harmony
I find encouragement in reading.  These are three books about Thomas Jefferson, one of the founding fathers of the United States and the founder of my alma mater.  There are two quotes from him that are extremely meaningful to me.  The first is: "Architecture is my delight, and putting up and pulling down one of my favorite amusements."  The second is: "I cannot live without books."

Shadow

Picture You | Harmony | Where I Stand
A lady from church passed away last week.  In the past year and half she had lost a son, a sister, and her second husband.  Tonight was her visitation at the funeral home, and my husband, son, and I attended.  We visited with the family and our friends from church.

Harmonious

Picture You | Harmony
I was worship leader at church today.  One definition of harmony is internal calm.  While being worship leader doesn't necessarily instill calm in me, attending church regularly greatly helps my sense of internal calm.  "Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action." ~1 John 3:18

Fuzzy

Fuzzy is defined by having a frizzy, fluffy, or frayed texture or appearance.  I think that the broccoli I made for dinner fits the bill for being frizzy or fuzzy.

Today was our last day of bowling for this season so I wanted to get a picture of our current team.  From left to right, Faye, Del, Anne (my mom), and me. I did bowl another 400 set, which makes 17 weeks out of 32.  Photo credit goes to my son who took the picture for me.

Limitless

Picture Color | White
The challenge was to experiment with monochromatism today, to play with shapes and textures, and pay attention to highlights and shadows. The possibilities are limitless!  Wanting a classic look for my china, I have a lot of white dishes in the Pfaltzgraff Heritage pattern so I started looking at taking some pictures of them in our new cabinets, but I wasn't happy with that look.  After that I pulled out some of my vases and a crystal votive out and took some pictures on our new counter.  I was really happy with how these turned out.

Peaceful

Picture Color | White
I had no idea what I was going to photograph for this prompt today, but when I left for work I noticed the dogwood tree across the street.  Dogwood trees are my favorite when they bloom in the spring, and it makes me happy to see them.  We used to have a few in our woods, but most of them appear to have died so I have to look forward to the neighbor's.  Unfortunately, the new people who moved in always have cars parked near the tree so it's impossible to get a clear view of it.

I found some PVC pipes on the ground near the house.  I think they used to be my son's soccer goals.  I tried to arrange them in an interesting pattern.  I don't have a macro lens so I just try to get in as close as possible.

Relaxation

Currently | Self Portrait Week

Reading is definitely very relaxing for me.  It's a challenge to find new ways to photograph me with the books I'm currently reading.  I don't think I've ever tried this perspective.
