Delightful

Picture Color | Purple
The playground at church provides a delightful place for both children from church and children from the school to play on any day of the week. "Remove the dross from the silver, and the silversmith can produce a vessel;" ~Proverbs 25:6 NIV

Hero

Picture Style | Travel
When I first saw this prompt I immediately thought of two people.  The first is my father who introduced me to the idea of wanderlust when I was 10 to 12 years old.  He took our family to places like Florida, Colorado, Idaho, Hawaii, Washington, British Columbia, and Alberta.  He also traveled to places such as Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Panama, the Marshall Islands, Germany, England, France, and Japan, as well as many other states - some for work, some for pleasure - and those are just the places I remember him mentioning.  The second person is my husband David with whom I have taken many memorable trips.  He's a travel hero to me because he has indulged my interest in traveling to Laura Ingalls Wilder sites, the Anne of Green Gables Heritage Site, and Frank Lloyd Wright buildings.  The top picture including my dad was taken in Florida in the spring of 1998 with my oldest son and my mom.  The bottom picture is of my husband and younger son on Eclipse Day on our Great American Eclipse Road Trip in 2017.

Pleasurable

Picture Style | Travel
I was able to stop by a local park for a few minutes today to snap a few pictures.  When my kids were young we attended many homeschool meetups here, and later when we were older and had a gap between activities such as piano lessons and soccer practice or Scout meetings we would sometimes come here so that I could walk and the boys could ride their bikes on the path.  I remember there being some nice shady spots along the path, and today I discovered a little free library along it.

Ferocious

Picture Style | Travel
It's already been a busy week, and the only traveling I did today was to bowling and running a couple of errands (Costco run and prescription pickup).  The competition during this summer's bowling league was ferocious, however.  A few weeks ago we were in a 3-way tie for second, and after losing all 7 points last week, we dropped to fourth.  Then because we lost all 7 points again today, we ended the season in fifth place.  It was a fun summer, and now we have a couple of weeks off before the winter league starts.

Restored

Picture Style | Travel
This is mill that was restored sometime in the 1980s in my hometown.  Locally it's known as Daniel's Dam and either Daniel's Mill or Teneriffe Roller Mills.  My best friend and I used to ride bikes to it and hang out and take pictures.  My mom used to know the family who owned the property, and I was able to look around inside at least once.  The property is currently closed to the public, except for an occasional open house for a special history day.  I actually took these pictures in high school (circa 1986) for a photography class.

Both of my other pictures for this have featured the holly tree more in the background so today I made it more of the focus of the picture.  I am hoping that getting in closer shows off the leaves more.  There doesn't seem to be a big difference between today's picture and the one taken in May.

Spiritual

Picture You | Pick a Background
It's Wednesday so I'm at the bowling alley.  Our summer league is winding down.  Bowling well requires a lot of concentration and the ability to block out what's going on around you as well as understanding how your ball is reacting to changing lane conditions and being able to make slight adjustments.  It could be considered a spiritual process.

Prosper

Picture You | Pick a Background
This sums up my day pretty well.  I went to the gym this morning and then went to work.  I'm prospering by taking care of my body, earning a little money, and saving some money too now that I often go to a gym across the street from my work instead of driving to a different town.

Picture You | Pick a Background | Sunday Selfie
This was the best of the bunch.  I have trouble taking selfies outside.  My eyes are really sensitive so if I don't wear sunglasses, I squint.  If I do wear sunglasses, then I can't see the screen to check the composition. "At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: 'Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart.  The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.' Back To School . . . Or Not

As many families in Virginia are preparing to head back to school within the next week or the next month, here's a thought to consider: why not shake things up and consider homeschooling?  Here's a short video that might encourage you: Make the World Your Classroom

Still not convinced? Check out some of the books and resources I recommend in the sidebar.  Happy Schooling!

Fresh

I scoured the grocery store looking for "fresh" yellow items when I discovered a gluten free lemon pound cake mix on the baking aisle.  Score!  I bought it and came home and made it, adding a few little extras like lemon frosting, lemon zest, and decorative lemon slices.  It turned out really well.

Successful

We have been the recipients of the bounty from several people's successful gardening ventures this summer.  My mom, my father-in-law, and our neighbor have all given us potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and squash.
