After having sciatica in early 2016, I have progressed in my fitness journey. I started doing planks during physical therapy as a way to strengthen my core muscles. When I started I could only do 20 or 30 seconds. Nearly daily I do one or two minutes now, and over the years I have learned many different versions of the basic plank that can make it either easier or more challenging depending on how one feels on a given day. This is a side plank, but with the timer I didn't have enough time to extend my lower arm all the way.
