Picture You | What I Love
I love a parade, and today was an extra special day because I got to spend it with my best friend at the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival Parade.  This is an annual tradition for us, as former marching band color guard members, but it has been three years since we've been able to get together and "Bloom."  This is one of the best pictures I too all day.  Mia Dorsett, daughter of Tony Dorsett, is Queen Shenandoah XCV.  She was actually designated queen in 2020 but due to the pandemic did not reign.  Her older sister Jazmyn Dorsett was Queen Shenandoah LXXXV.

Flourish

Guest Prompt | What I Love
Yesterday my bowling team, Thar She Bowls, managed to win two games and take total pins in the last day of bowling for the season.  We went into the day tied for first, and since we won six points, that means that we finished the season in first place!  I have been bowling on a league since the fall of 2016, which is 5 1/2 winter seasons (covid ended the 2019-2020 season mid-year) and 4 summer seasons (no summer bowling in 2020 either), and I have never been on a team that has finished in first place.  Our team is definitely flourishing!

Picture You | What I Love
What I love now is this cat.  Even though she does things like somehow get on top of the clothes hanging in the closet and knock my husband's winter socks on the floor, when she KNOWS she isn't supposed to be in the closet to begin with.  She makes up for it by snuggling up against me at bedtime.

I J

Picture You | What I Love | Picture the Alphabet
For the letters this month, one of the projects in my son's art class a few years ago was for them to make a giant letter so he made an I for his name Ian.  I thought it was perfect for this prompt.  Then I used jellybeans from Easter to make a letter J.  I used black and purple because my favorite color is purple, and the only jelly beans I like are the black ones.

Tranquil

Picture You | What I Love
Since I took a picture of myself reading yesterday, I wanted to come up with something else for today.  I also find it relaxing to sit in what is now my home office (it used to be our homeschool classroom) and listen to music while I work on the computer.  I am still in the process of cleaning it out and sorting through years of homeschool curriculum, books, and papers, but it's starting to make the transformation.

Classy

Picture More | Point of View
Yesterday a few of us from church volunteered for our district's annual meat canning at Christian Aid Ministries in Ephrata, Pennsylvania.  Over four days approximately 2,000 pounds of chicken gets canned.  This year the cans will be divided with two-thirds going to the two districts who sponsor the meat canning (Mid-Atlantic and Southern Pennsylvania) and the other third going to Christian Aid Ministries. The canned meat gets distributed to a variety of sources, including food pantries.  We worked from about 7:20 until 11:30 cutting, canning, and labeling.  Having driven 3 hours from Virginia, it's possible that our group had come the farthest that day.  This photo was taken when we were getting ready to go to lunch, which was provided by another set of volunteers.  I had to take it with my phone through a window into the processing room because I was no longer wearing the required gown, hairnet, and gloves.  I think it's pretty classy to volunteer time to help out with projects like this.

Dogwoods are my favorite tree, and they are in bloom everywhere around us now.  I looked for some that I could take pictures of in between bowling and work today.  I found some in the shopping center across the street.  Taken looking out my car with my phone.

The church sanctuary was decorated with Easter lilies and a few other meaningful symbols of the day.  "In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, 'Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!' " ~Luke 24:5-6a

My older son had to fly to New Mexico for a business trip so we had our family Easter dinner a day early.  It wasn't really anything fancy, but it was nice to sit down and eat together.  There is a little green scattered here and there throughout the picture.  Photo courtesy of David.

Thrilling

Picture Color | Green
One of the two bowling balls that I use is green so it was perfect for today's prompt.  We bowled the team that is in second place and split points with them today.  It's thrilling that we are somehow still in first place (by two points!) with just two weeks left in the season.

Command

This weekend I bowled in the Virginia State Women's Bowling Tournament with my mom and two other ladies from our bowling league.  This is the third time I have bowled in the tournament; I started in 2018 and also bowled in 2019.  I was registered, but the tournament in 2020 was canceled, and no one really wanted to travel or risk registering in 2021 so I missed those two years.  Many people were excited to go to the tournament this year however, especially since the team event was being held at our home lanes.  I made a collage of the tournament pictures.

I decided to take this prompt in a different direction.  I recently bought a jewelry holder that is in the shape of hands, and thought that it would be fun to make it look like the hands were rising out of the box.

This is a full picture of the hands.

Brilliant

Picture Style | Still Life in a Box | Flat Lay
I thought I would use my wicker basket to do a flat lay of some of the different tools that I use at work.  I included my work shirt, a pencil for marking student pages, a punch because we punch their page and their punch card when a page is completed and all correct, a calculator in case instructors have to quickly figure out answers to student homework, a calendar advertising fun activities from last summer, and a deck of cards which we use to play various games with students (multiplication war, addition war, adding integers, concentration, complements of 10, etc.).

I decided to try to use a wicker storage container for as many of my pictures as possible this week.  I found a few crystal items to showcase one of the cookies from Crumbl where my son is working.  I think this was a New York cheesecake cookie.  The menu changes every week so it's hard to keep track of the different cookies he brings home.  "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth.  The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind." ~Isaiah 65:17

Optimistic

Picture You | Low Key | Picture My Hands
I am optimistic that spring weather will soon be here, and that the cold, dreary, rainy days will be over.  Therefore, I decided that it was time to hang the spring wreath on the door.  This isn't really low key but due to the overcast skies, the colors are a little less vibrant.
