I went down to the basement at church to see if I could find an area where I could try to take a low key picture.  This was the best I could do.  There is actually a lot of light even in the basement.  We had a bit of an unusual service today because the pastor was sick and there wasn't a lot of time to get another speaker.  We had a short message from our accompanist followed by a hymn sing.  "But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found." ~Luke 15:32

I attempted to do a re-creation of a famous piece of art.  I chose Mondrian's Composition with Red, Blue, Black and Yellow-Green (Composition C) from 1920.   I was hoping to re-create it with large Lego Duplo blocks.  It was more difficult than I anticipated, especially since I didn't have all of the colors and I had to show the image in black and white.

Earlier this month a group from my church was supposed to do a paint night at a local business on a Friday night.  Due to some issues with the business, the event got rescheduled to a night I couldn't attend.  Since I had already paid, they did a to-go kit so that I could do the project on my own.  Even though a piece was missing, I made it work.  Here is my finished project.

Well, it snowed today.  Yes, it's March, and yes, it's Virginia, but nearly every year around this time (at least since I've been tracking it via social media) it seems to snow.  What's really crazy is when we get three different snowfalls in March.  Since we are supposed to have springlike temperatures again beginning on Monday, I hope that doesn't happen this year.  Here are a few pictures from around the house this evening.

Because some of the ladies had decided to go out to lunch today to celebrate March birthdays, including my mom's, I didn't work today (if I work I don't have enough time to go out to a nice lunch after bowling).  Because of this I was actually able to take a picture around the Golden Hour.  We have started having dinner with my in-laws every couple of weeks so this was taken at their house as soon as I arrived there.

The children were practicing their acolyte skills after church today since it has been so long since we have had this as part of our worship service.  Now that more people are feeling comfortable returning to church in person, we are trying to return to portions of the service that had been suspended.  The light at the end of the candle lighter is a nice golden color.  Since it is still not light when I leave work in the evenings, I have a feeling that this week will be full of alternative interpretations of Golden Hour.  "And you and the Levites and the aliens among you shall rejoice in all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household." ~Deuteronomy 26:11

Today we were supposed to think about what we might find eye-opening if we were newly arrived to our own town.  A few years ago we had a foreign exchange student from Paris stay with us for a few weeks during the summer, and I tried to remember what he found eye-opening.  I couldn't remember anything specific, except when we took him to a family cabin in West Virginia, he commented about how dark it was.  Ultimately I decided that people might wonder about these little boxes with books in them.  They are called Little Free Libraries, and this one is around the corner from where I work.  There is even a map of them (but some of the ones I know of aren't on the map, so it's definitely not a complete listing): Little Free Library Map  Since I love to read, this was a perfect choice, and making books available to everyone is a great goal.
