Today is Pentecost so the sanctuary at church was decorated to reflect that.  I think they did a great job with bright colors.  "They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them." ~Acts 2:3-4

Durable

This is mostly off prompt because it's not really part of my daily life.  Today we went to a special tour  called Designing American Living at Woodlawn and the Pope-Leighey House.  It was a tour examining both houses through the lens of the architects who designed them.  This is the Pope-Leighey House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, for Loren Pope, who was a journalist who lived in Falls Church.  The house, in the Usonian style, was completed in 1941.  However, in 1963 the house was slated for demolition to construct Interstate 66.  The second owner Marjorie Leighey had to work with the Secretary of the Interior and the National Trust for Historic Preservation to save the house.  It is now located on the property of Woodlawn plantation.  At 82 years old the house has proven to be quite durable.

Part of my daily routine is to read.  I read for about fifteen minutes to half an hour in the morning and around an hour each night at bedtime.  I have eclectic tastes in reading with interests including history, biography, architecture, health, Amish fiction, Southern fiction, historical fiction, magazines, and many others.

Mother's Day in Colonial Williamsburg

We visited Colonial Williamsburg on Mother's Day.  It was a very mild day, and we were able to get tickets for the Designer in Residence tour of the Nelson-Galt House, a private residence within Colonial Williamsburg.
