Adventurous

Since my husband was off work today, and I only worked in the morning, we were adventurous and tried out a new-to-us restaurant on Main Street in Warrenton.  I had the steak and eggs meal, which also came with home fries and toast.  Hubby had the Greek salad.  The verdict is that Sunny Hills American Grill hit the spot for a casual lunch date.

This is a picture from Main Street Warrenton on a typical weekday afternoon.  The historic courthouse is on the left, and the John Barton Payne Building, which used to be the library, is at the end of the street.  Now it's a meeting space, and the library bookstore is in the basement.  Everyone is generally amiable at the complicated intersection in front of the John Barton Payne Building where Main Street, Waterloo Street, Winchester Street, and Alexandria Pike all come together.

Yesterday we had also intended to visit the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley to see an exhibit.  By the time we arrived there (at 4:15) we discovered that they closed at 4:00.  Thankfully the exhibit is there for several more months so it just means that we get to schedule another get together.

Frivolous

I went to Winchester to visit my best friend today, and we went to lunch at a local restaurant, I. J. Canns American Grille, to belatedly celebrate her birthday.  This is the second time we've eaten here, and we usually get dessert.  Here are our frivolous choices: carrot cake and cheesecake with a little caramel drizzle.

 Our not so frivolous choices for lunch: steak salad and shrimp & grits.

Happy Pi Day! (That's pi; not pie.) Eratosthenes of Cyrene was a Greek polymath and is best known for being the first person to calculate the circumference of the Earth. Pi is the the Greek number that represents the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Pi is a number that is infinite and without repetition beyond its decimal point.  Today at work we had a Pi Day Celebration that included games, food (pizza, of course), prizes, and a pie eating contest.  We had a full house of current students, siblings, friends, parents (and possibly some grandparents), and former students.
