This Lego set is a winner in my opinion.  It's the Singapore skyline, and I was able to put it together this afternoon.  It contains a mix of modern and historic buildings.  Even with my hospital stay, I only missed taking and posting pictures for two days this month, and I count that as another win.

The birds instinctively know where to come for food.  We put up a new feeder in the back yard this year, and even though all of the other feeders are in the front yard, it hasn't stopped the birds from finding this one too.  This nuthatch was enjoying some birdseed today.

I went back to work today after being off for nearly two weeks to recover from my gallbladder surgery.  I even felt well enough to return an item that was purchased for Christmas but was unneeded.  Here is a quick picture I took of the arcade in front of the shopping center.

 

 

 

Lunch at the Black Sheep

I wanted to post some more pictures from our lunch at the Black Sheep.  We were on the lower level in the Barrel Room.  We were the first to arrive so I took a few pictures before everyone else arrived.

We ordered a few appetizers, including the Bacon Tower, which is seared tableside.

Ian ordered the Bison Burger.

I ordered the Wedge Salad with grilled shrimp.

Several of us also ordered dessert.  I got the Baked Alaska and Ian ordered the Beignets.

Mary Ellen ordered a dish of ice cream, but they also brought her a small slice of cake.

When it was time to leave, the lights were on outside so I took a few pictures.

Today is my mother-in-law's birthday.  Since it's her 80th, we decided to something special and took her to lunch at a local venue that has a brewery and restaurant.  Since there were ten of us, we were able to get a private room.  This is a group photo to commemorate the day, and since we were in the Barrel Room, we are framed by the barrels.

Today we spent part of the day at my son's apartment where we gave each other the stockings that we filled as our Secret Santa exchange.  We all have matching personalized stockings now, and since we don't have a mantle or fireplace, my husband devised a way to hang them from my Lego architecture shelf. 

We also attended church in the evening.  It is always a beautiful candlelight service with wonderful music.  This year was no different, but I didn't take any pictures.

It took me a while to come up with an idea for today's photo.  I finally settled on the Three Wise Men ornament on our tree.  I think I photograph this every year because it's one of my favorites for many reasons.  I chose this one today because it is gold and because the wise men defied King Herod and went home a different way.   "And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route." ~Matthew 2:12

I actually went to bowling today, but not to bowl.  I won't be able to do that for a couple more weeks.  My mom drove me, and I did my 50/50 job and then just socialized and watched others bowl.  I took some pictures there, but they didn't really capture the idea of exquisite or gold very well.  Instead, later in the day I took a picture of one of the angels from our Christmas centerpiece.

Today, a month after my actual birthday, my best friend and I met for lunch.  I remembered to take a picture for today's prompt and chose to feature our desserts.  She loves carrot cake but doesn't like to make it, and I love chocolate, especially a flourless chocolate cake.

 

 

After our lunch at Sedona Tap House, we walked around Liberty Town Art Center.  Just before we parted ways for the day, we remembered to take a selfie.

It took me a long time to come up with an idea for this prompt, but I recently got a second mixing bowl for my KitchenAid stand mixer.  We needed a second one because occasionally we make complicated recipes that might require chilling dough in the mixing bowl while mixing an additional component.  Having two bowls will hopefully make things easier.  While the older bowl is a flat metallic steel, the new one is highly reflective.  I noticed this and finally realized I could use it for a reflection picture.  It was actually more difficult than it might seem to capture this image.

After our trip to Busch Gardens yesterday, we stayed overnight in Williamsburg and did some Christmas shopping at Colonial Williamsburg's Merchants Square.  We ate breakfast at Illy Caffe.  

 

As we were wrapping up the morning and getting ready to leave, we saw this sight.

 

We finished the day with lunch and shopping at Bass Pro Shops in Ashland.
